Classic Retro Rock n Roll

CA3 was formed in September of 2002 by former members of The Houndogs, Mike (Smiley) Scarione (Lead vocals) and Matt (Mookie) Porter (Guitar). They added bassist Bill (Gooch) Cappozi and drummer Mike (Benny Stix) Benson and began working steadily. In no time they established themselves as one of the NY Metro area's most fun party bands. In February 2003 Matt Porter was badly injured in a farm machinery accident and became unable to continue gigging with the band. His father, noted country music legend Hank Porter, steeped in to replace him and was made a permanent member of the band in June of 2004. The elder Porter was responsible for creating a new mind set in the band and sparking the energy that the band has become known for. By insisting the band play 4 hour continuous sets and driving the band to play 2 or 3 gigs a day regularly, the Trio has gained a reputation for unmatched stamina. "I live to play music", say Porter, "When the band takes a break the party stops, I'd just as soon keep it going".
The others found it hard to adjust at first but came to agree and now relish the marathon sets. " It really makes the energy flow and build to a fevered pitch. By the time we've finished our four hour set our fans well aware of the difference between us the the bands that are always on a break" says lead singer Scarione.
The summer of 2004 brought further changes in the band as scheduling problems required them to employ the services of a number of drummers including Colonel Dave Cobb and Mike (Blind Melon) Barone. Although they still do a number of shows with benny Stix, it is Barone that works most often with the band these days.
While the band now puts most of it's energy into playing private parties and special events, they continue to play area clubs as a showcase to book the party work. They can be seen regularly performing their classic retro rock & roll set at Water Lilly's on the Nautical Mile in Freeport, N.Y.

The Rockinghams

60's Retro Tribute Band

Remember "The Johnson Years?" They were those wondrous times between 1964 and 1968 when LBJ ruled the White House & Hugh Hefner ruled the penthouse. Pop acts like The Beatles, The Beach Boys, & The Four Seasons ruled the AM airwaves while a new radio format called FM introduced the psychedelic sounds of Pink Floyd & The Guess Who. On both sides of the Atlantic a pop culture revolution took place whose impact is still relevant today.

Enter The Rockinghams!, four versatile & talented veterans of the New York music scene, weary of playing what Brian Halverson (guitar/keyboards/vocals) calls "The cover songs of the constituency." Not content to crank out the same 3-chord oldies that other bands regularly rehashed, The Rockinghams! drew upon their love of 60's pop and rock to build a repertoire that is truly unique and exclusively devoted to that magic era. Sure, they draw from stalwarts like The Beatles, The Stones & The Who, but they've also mixed in classics by other great bands like The Byrds, The Lovin' Spoonful, The Cyrkle, The Left Banke, The Turtles, The Easybeats & The Zombies- just to name a few! Says bassist/vocalist Paul Stingo, "So many people remember these songs but you just don't hear many bands playing them anymore - so here they are!"
